Businesses across Shropshire have been urged to donate personal protective equipment (PPE) to the NHS.

In a joint letter, the Shropshire, and Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups, say PPE is a "key factor" in limiting the spread of COVID-19.

In particular, they are requesting disposable plastic aprons and examination gloves, face masks, visors, sanistiser, soap, and paper towels.

It adds: "The NHS supply chain has been providing PPE and is increasing its capacity. But as you may have seen or read, demand for equipment across health and care organisations continued to grow.

"At the same time piles of commercial PPE stocks lay idle within organisations or businesses that are currently temporarily closed due to the outbreak. This is equipment that NHS and care organisations could be using to bolster our supplies."

The letter adds that they appreciate donations but are putting in place reimbursement arrangments. To help out email stw.covidcomms@nhs.net
