THE family of a police cadet battling a rare form of cancer have thanked the people of Harwich for coming together to raise thousands of pounds in his name.

Niki and Dave Wheeler, mother and stepfather, Luke and Paige, siblings, and Bob and Pauline Johnson, maternal grandparents of police cadet Ryan Twinn, 15, all voiced their gratitude after a quiz night at the Park Pavilion, in Dovercourt. The fundraiser, which raised £3,000, was held in aid of Ryan’s costly fight against stage four cancer. He has malignant germ cell tumours.

The family said: “We wish to add our heartfelt thanks to the business owners and the people of Harwich, Tendring and beyond for their generosity and support toward Ryan and his family.

“We were both humbled and amazed at the turnout at the quiz night.

“We thank those people, be it police officers, cadets or civilians, who so graciously gave up their time to organise and run the event.”
