MCFLY, Scouting for Girls and Eliza and the Bear are to play at a forthcoming new “mini festival” called Weekend in the Park.

Organisers In The Park have teamed up with creative team Asteroid and also well-known festival co-ordinator Sean McLoughlin to bring the weekend event to Garon Park, Southend, in September.

Sean says more stages and acts are to be announced, across two individual one-day concerts which will feature one day of pop and another of indie, playing out of “one giant outdoor tent” with “a mini festival vibe”.

Also on the pop line up are Lauran Hibberd, Chapter 13, DJ Andy Bush (Absolute Radio) “and more”, with comedy, gourmet food and “the last chance to party outdoors before the nights draw in!”

Steve Cochrane, the festival co owner, who has previously promoted shows in Southend featuring UB40, Marc Almond and Soul II Soul, said: “We are so excited to announce our new mini festival Weekend in the Park, delivering some of the biggest talent in pop, rock and indie music to the Southend area!”

Adam and Jason Perry from Leigh, are the leaders of the Asteroid creative team who delivered arena shows and festivals concepts across the globe.

Adam is the drummer with US platinum sellers Bloodhound Gang and Jason is a Grammy award winning producer (McFly, Don Broco, Molotov and many others).

Sean McLoughlin, who produced Village Green and VG: Next Generation, has over 20 years in the festival industry.
