ELDERLY people joined together to enjoy a tea dance party with talented ballroom dancers.

The 1940s-themed party was organised by United in Kind and FaNs Essex in order to bring older residents and those at risk of loneliness together at Ramsey War Memorial Hall last Sunday.

Organisers Suzanne Howe from United in Kind and Kirsti Ayling of FaNs Essex said the aim of the event was to encourage people to help each other with acts of kindness.

Residents from Don Thomson, Mistley Manor, Alexandra House and Lime Court care homes enjoyed the afternoon while singers and talented dancers provided dazzling entertainment.

Harwich Police cadets also got involved by serving tea and cakes and chatting with all the guests.

Mrs Howe said the cadets were truly amazing.

She added: “They worked tirelessly and were polite and helpful and incredibly smart too.”

Kirsti Ayling said: “Creating special memories and connecting communities with kindness is what the event is all about. These young people are a credit to our town.”
