A MAN died at a Poole care home months after collapsing and hitting his head during a boat trip in Japan, an inquest hearing has heard.
Charles Edward Bracken, aged 85, died at the Lindsay Care Home, on January 27 this year.
The retired retail manager's health had declined sharply after the fall during the boat trip in April, 2019.
He suffered serious head injuries and developed post traumatic epilepsy.
Yesterday, an inquest was opened into the circumstances surrounding his death at Dorset Coroner's Court in Bournemouth Town Hall.
Coroner's officer Ken McEwan told the hearing: "Mr Bracken suffered a collapse during a boat trip in Japan in April 2019.
"He fell backwards and hit his head."
His cause of death has been recorded as traumatic brain injury and post traumatic epilepsy.
Dorset Coroner Racheal Griffin, who presided over the short hearing, adjourned the inquest until March 13.
