SOUTHEND is known for its Mod and northern soul scene and a lot of that has to do with the “longest running Mod night” Almost Grown.
The first one of 2020 is coming up on Friday February 21, at Saks Underground in Clifftown Road, Southend.
Almost Grown, hosted by longstanding DJs Rob Messer and Aaron Bunch, has now been going for 25 years, attracting a loyal following of stalwart northern soul fans and mods, as well as a younger crowd.
DJ Rob Messer said: “People can expect the very best selection of 60s music with northern soul, 60s RnB, Latin, jazz and all your favourite Mod club sounds.
“Saks Underground is a proper basement club with a wooden dance floor perfect for our all vinyl DJ set from residents Martin Morgan and Rob Messer plus special guests.
“Everyone is welcome.”
Almost Grown has attracted dancers and lovers of its genre from all over the UK and from across the globe.
It all kicks off from 9pm until 2am.
