A FURIOUS salon and training school owner has been left thousands of pounds out of pocket after a break-in.

A man targeted Debut Salon and Training Academy, High Street, Wickford, stealing a till containing of hundreds of pounds of cash and an iPad.

The training school offers 180 students tuition each year.

Ower Clara Hales, 40, said it is so frustrating.

She said: “He came in through a back window on the first floor and got on the roof.

“He went downstairs and alerted the alarm company who called us at about 10.40pm.

“The alarm people were able to speak to the man through the technology and ask for passwords, which he could not supply.

“We got there at about 10.50pm and the police were brilliant and I’ve been very impressed.

“The burglar took the till and an iPad. It’s the inconvenience of the whole thing, we’ve now got to get the window and till replaced and repaired.

“There was probably about £600 in the till at the time.

“With all the damage and items stolen it will be about £3,000.

“We’ve been here about 20 years and train people in beauty and get government funding, we are basically a college.

“We also help people to get jobs as well and take 180 jobs a year.

“The team and I are annoyed more than anything else.”

The business owner said it’s a massive blow after years of training up beauticians and serving the community.

She said: “I am feeling fed up and it’s so annoying.

“I am concerned nobody will be caught for this.

“It feels like we’ve been here al this time and someone just comes along and takes some of that away.

“It’s also awful that someone has been through our personal stuff and the staff’s information.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “The man has been described to us as white and wearing a black waistcoat with a Khaki-coloured hooded top with a fur trim, yellow gloves and had part of his face covered with a mask.

“If you have any information call on 101 with crime reference number 42/8627/20.”
