A MAN has been arrested following the raid of a Rhyl cannabis factory.

Denbighshire and Abergele Coastal North Wales Police officers recovered a large number of cannabis plants as a result of a warrant being executed at a disused property on the junction of Kinmel Street and Windsor Street, Rhyl.

During the search early on the morning of Wednesday, January 15 officers found sophisticated cannabis grow and a large amount of cannabis was recovered from within the building. The man, who was arrested for cultivation of cannabis, is currently in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The eyewitness, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "The police are pulling out what looks like a lot of weed plants from the flat and putting them into a big van.

"You can smell wafting all the way down the street."

District Sergeant Kevin Smith said: “I would like to thank the public for sharing their concerns and assisting us in making Rhyl a safer town following this latest warrant and arrest.”

“This event serves to remind all members of the public to be aware that properties are being targeted by criminals to utilise buildings for the production of cannabis. I would urge anyone with similar concerns to provide us with the information and I would like to reassure the public that we will take positive action against those engaged in any organised criminal activity.”
