SOUTHEND United manager Sol Campbell is unsure if striker Tom Hopper will be fit enough to feature against Rotherham United this weekend.
Hopper suffered a nasty cut on his ankle during Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Bristol Rovers.
And Campbell does not know if Hopper will recover in time to take on the Millers at Roots Hall.
"Tom got studded in the game at Bristol Rovers and it was pretty deep," said Campbell.
"He couldn’t really function in the second half or do what he usually does with his lovely sprints which stretch the back line.
"He’s had stitches and hopefully it will calm down.
The physio department are doing all they can to reduce the swelling but it’s a pretty deep cut.
"Fingers crossed it heals but if not he’ll be back for next week."
Hopper has scored three goals in 11 appearances so far this season after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury which kept him out of action for close to a year.
