SOUTHEND United’s youth team will be turning their attentions to the EFL Cup this weekend.
The Shrimpers host AFC Wimbledon in a southern section area quarter-final at Boots & Laces.
And coach Danny Heath is expecting another difficult contest against the Dons.
“It’s a tough game because they’re a good side,” said Heath.
“They have Sheffield United away in the third round of the FA Youth Cup next week and they’re doing well.
"But it’s a one off game and we’ll be doing all we can to try and get through to the next round.”
And Blues will also be heading into the game on a high after seeing off Leyton Orient 3-1 last time out.
“The performance was really good,” said Heath.
“We spoke in the week about the players being responsible in their roles and they were.”
