ELVIS Bwomono wants his consistent form with Southend United to result in his first call-up for Uganda.
The right-back has become just the third Shrimpers player to win player of the month three times in succession.
And Bwomono, who turns 21 today, is hoping that is attracting attention from elsewhere.
“I’ve had a call from the national team and I’m on the radar now so it would be great to get my first call-up,” said the defender, who was born in Uganda and lived there until he was three.
“It would be a really proud moment for me and my family but obviously I’m focusing on doing well for Southend and doing all I can to help the results improve.”
The Shrimpers sit second from bottom in the League One standings after a wretched run of results.
But Bwomono has been pleased with his own form.
“I feel as though I’ve been quite consistent and I’m pleased to have got player of the month three times in a row,” said Bwomono.
“But it’s the team that matters most and we’re being put through a mini pre-season right now to try and turn things around.”
Sean Clohessy and Mark Oxley had previously been Blues’ only players to win the player of the month award three times in a row.
