JAMIE O’Hara believes latest arrival Femi Akinwande will take Billericay Town ‘to the next level’.

Akinwande has joined Billericay from National League South rivals Braintree Town.

And player-manager O’Hara admits he was keen to bring Akinwande - who counts Concord Rangers among his former clubs - to New Lodge after seeing the impressive frontman cause problems in Billericay’s 3-2 victory over Braintree in August.

“I’ve been a big admirer of Femi since playing against him early in the season,” said O’Hara, whose side’s FA Trophy third qualifying round tie with Hampton & Richmond Borough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday.

“He has set the league alight with his dynamic play and by scoring great goals.

“We worked really hard to get the deal over the line and I’m proud to get Femi on board.

“He is going to be a special player for Billericay.

“I have to say a massive thank you to the owners for helping to get him in.

“Femi’s arrival takes us to the next level.”

While Akinwande has completed his switch to Billericay, Charlie Wassmer will not be returning to the club.

Central defender Wassmer joined National League South rivals Hampton on loan in September and the move has now been made permanent.

A club statement read: “We can announce that Charlie Wassmer has signed a permanent deal to keep him at Hampton.

“We thank Charlie for all his efforts in his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future at his new club.”
