TWO teenagers have been charged after boys aged 17 were allegedly followed and ordered to hand over money in Bournemouth's gardens last week.

Police have called for anyone with information to come forward after the alleged incident, which they say happened in Central Gardens at around 3.45pm on Thursday, November 7.

Officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports that two 17-year-olds were being attacked by three people.

The alleged victims were tracked down to the bus stop opposite House of Fraser.

They told officers they'd been followed by three people who demanded money.

The boys were reportedly assaulted, but did not hand anything over. The alleged offenders walked off afterwards.

Following searches of the area, a 16-year-old Poole boy, 17-year-old Bournemouth boy and a 23-year-old man of no fixed abode were arrested and subsequently charged with attempted robbery.

They appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on November 9 and are next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court in December.

Detective Constable Ben Swain, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I understand a group of people intervened and came to the aid of the complainants during the incident and I would be keen to speak to members of that group.”
