THE parent company of the Echo is offering bumper cash giveaways to registered charities across Essex - and if you are one of them get in touch now!

The Gannett Foundation - part of the Gannett Co Inc, which owns Echo publisher Newsquest Media Group - has financially supported charities with various projects over the years, and is ready to go again.

These projects tend to focus on all things community, from improving neighbourhoods to bolstering initiatives led by young people.

Groups promoting sport and healthy living, assistance to disadvantaged or disabled people, care of the elderly and environmental conservation, will also be considered for the big money gifts.

In the last ten years alone, the foundation has made grants in the UK totalling almost £4million.

A spokesperson for the foundation said: “We value practical and creative projects which bring lasting benefits to the communities and neighbourhoods served by our newspapers and online audience.

“That includes schemes for neighbourhood improvement and any local problem-solving, economic development, youth development, education and cultural enrichment, care of the elderly or infirm, help for the disadvantaged or disabled and environmental conservation.

“While preference may be given to ideas which create a durable legacy for the community, we will consider single events or projects of limited duration which otherwise meet our criteria.

“We particularly invite clearly reasoned applications asking for specific items of equipment or materials. We entertain applications of any size or ambition.”

Gary Pearson, the Echo’s Head of Content, added: “Apply now as time is running out! This is a great opportunity for charities to get vital money and make a real difference.”

Submission of copies of the charity’s most recent financial accounts are required. Applications must be submitted on the approved form, which can be downloaded at echo-news.co.uk/gannett/ where you can find full terms and conditions.

The completed form and supporting document should be sent via email to michele.newman@newsquest.co.uk by noon on Friday, October 18.
