A BUILDING which forms part of a mill could be converted into flats.

David Bridge is seeking full planning permission to change a grade II listed warehouse building at Cullen Mill in Braintree Road, Witham, into nine self-contained apartments.

The scheme would see the outside of the warehouse, originally owned by Thomas Cullen and Sons, completely restored to its former glory.

The warehouse is currently used as office space but the applicant argues with much of the building now left unoccupied, its use as a place for employment is no longer financially viable.

It is further argued that creating nine new flats at the Cullen Mill site will ensure its long-term future and see the history retained for many years to come.

A total of nine car parking spaces are already available on the site and each one would likely be given to the owner of each of the flats.

Braintree Council will rule on the application later this year.
