A WEEKLY get-together for film fans is set to return in September.

From September 10, Season 15 of the Maldon Film Club will begin meeting every Tuesday until the end of December.

The club, who meet at Maldon Town Hall in Market Hill, has a complete programme of classics and less well-known blockbusters to be shown on the silver screen.

The team behind the club is very excited to get the new season up and running.

A spokesman for Maldon Film Club, said it will be a season to remember.

They said: “After a very successful 14th season preparations are in hand already for season 15.

“Whilst full details of films to be screened will follow in due course, we are delighted to confirm the programme for the second part of the season.”

Despite the programme for the first part of the season not being fully confirmed, the second half, which starts on January 8 next year, includes some absolute classics.

The list of Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globe-nominated movies on show this season includes Stan and Ollie, Dogman, Apostasy, Capernaum and Border.

The club works on a membership basis and is run by a committee that selects and screens an annual programme of 18 films.

Shows range from the best of recent English and foreign language releases.

The group endeavours to select films that have not had a wide general release and are less than three years old, however they always screen one classic film each season.

The aim is to create a mixed programme of different genres from different regions of the world.

Subscriptions for a full season cost £25.

For that price members will be able to watch every film in this season’s programme.

Memberships for junior members, aged from 16 to 18 in full-time education, are available for £18.

Guests are also welcome for just £3 per film.
