A TEENAGER will be remembered at a sixth form college awards event.
Rory Wai, 18, died at his home in Wivenhoe. He had been working as a part-time lifeguard for the summer while waiting for his A-level results after studying at Colchester Sixth Form College.
Adrian Frost, assistant principal at the college, paid tribute to Rory.
He said: “Staff will work closely to support the many students and staff who have been affected by this sad loss.
“Our chaplain has been supporting his friends and has set up a space in the college prayer room to reflect or write a message of condolence.
“Rory performed brilliantly in his A-Levels but this only reflects one part of a young man who was a much valued and respected member of the college community, as a friend, a sportsman and a student.
“We will be honouring his achievements at our reunion and awards event.”
