A POPULAR children's festival has brought Chelmsford to a standstill.
Families driving to the 3foot festival said they are stuck in standstill traffic about two miles away.
The UK's largest outdoor festival for little ones welcomes over 14,000 festival goers for a day filled with excitement. There is wonder hidden around every corner, ready to inspire and entertain.
Chelmsford City Council organises the annual event.
A council spokesman said: “Traffic congestion around Hylands Park and the surrounding areas is inevitable across the three days of the popular 3foot People Festival, which attracts around 14,000 people each year – the event is the UK’s largest outdoor festival exclusively for pre-school children.
"Travel planning is a crucial part of the event planning process. We work closely with Essex Highways and contract the AA to provide traffic signage leading up to and during the festival which informs motorists that delays are possible.
"The festival also provides a shuttle bus service for ticket holders from the city centre to Hylands Park which aims to reduce the number of cars travelling to the site.
"After the event has taken place, the event management team will meet to discuss any comments or challenges they were presented with at this year’s event.”
