EVER wondered how the other half live - or more specifically, how much their houses cost?

We've consulted property experts Zoopla to find out the five most expensive streets in the Colchester area and how much they estimate a house on one of them could cost.

While the average price for a 4-bed house listed on Zoopla in Colchester is £388,342, there are also some eye-wateringly priced mansions for those with the deepest pockets.

Two are in the CO7 postcode area, two in the C06 area and one in the CO3 area.

According to property buying site Zoopla, these are Colchester's most expensive streets.

Highest value streets for property using Zoopla's 'Zed Index' - and average estimated price.

1. Cooks Hall Road, West Bergholt

The current average property value is £1,359,513, but the most expensive home in the street is worth an estimated £3,394,000.

The last home sold was in March 2016 for £1,035,000.

2. Campions Hill, Nayland

The current average property value is £1,353,273, but the most expensive home in the street is worth an estimated £2,803,000.

The last home sold was in July 2009 for £585,000 but is now estimated to be worth more than £900,000.

3. St Clare Road, Colchester

The current average property value is £1,282,042, but the most expensive home in the street is worth an estimated £2,277,000.

The last home sold was in November 2018 for £686,000. Average house price paid on the road is £970,000.

4. Coles Oak Lane, Dedham

The current average property value is £1,185,051, but the most expensive home in the street is worth an estimated £2,394,000.

The last home sold was in January 2017 for £585,000.

5. Rectory Hill, East Bergholt

The current average property value is £1,140,299, but the most expensive home in the street is worth an estimated £2,815,000.

But the last home sold was in August 2017 for £202,000.

In addition to the most expensive, Zoopla has also rounded-up the streets with the highest turnover - ie the ones where houses go up for sale most frequently.

That is worked out by dividing the number of sales over the last 5 years (excluding new build properties) by the number of homes in a given area.

  • Madeley Close, Colchester - 76.9%
