DEADEYES and pinpoint marksman will hope to be firing on all cylinders next month when an annual clay pigeon shoot returns to Braintree to raise money for a children’s hospice.

The Little Havens Clay Pigeon Shoot, which is now in its sixth year, will see budding and experienced gun wielding sharp shooters attempt to take down 60 flying targets during a competition taking place at The Fennes Shooting School.

The event will also act as a platform from which to raise funds for Little Havens Hospice – a charitable organisation dedicated to caring for babies, children and teenagers suffering from life-limiting illnesses.

Since its inaugural event in 2014, the local shooting community has manged to generate more than £80,000 in donations for the charity and is now hoping its forthcoming outing will turn their total into a six-digit sum.

Mandy Beglan, who organises the event, said: “It would be great if this year we could bring the grand total up to £100,000, so please join us for a great day’s shooting while raising money for a fantastic cause.

“Little Havens needs to raise over £46,000 each week to be there for every family that needs its care - so this has made such a big difference to so many people and we are so grateful to the shooting community who have made this such a successful annual event and raised so much money.’’

The Clay Pigeon Shoot will take place from 9am-4.30pm on June 4.

Entrance fee is £175 per person and includes cartridges, guns and tuition. Breakfast, refreshments and a delicious three course lunch will also be available.
