POLICE are looking into a series of high-end computer burglaries to see if they are linked.

Companies in and around the Colchester area have been targeted by two raiders who have been caught in the act on CCTV cameras.

The latest company to come forward is Stationery UK in Inworth Road, Feering. Two hooded men attempted to break in but were unsuccessful.

Operations manager Owen Cass said: “It was at 9.27pm so it was dark.

“CCTV shows one guy trying to break through and then a taller guy comes along. They really tried the door but due to the magnetic lock they couldn’t get in.

“It set the alarm off and they scampered away.”

The next day he contacted police but said they dropped the case as there were no faces visible in the CCTV to act as reliable evidence.

Owen said: “They didn’t want to look at the CCTV but you can see their clothing and footwear.

“They seem to be targeting the same kinds of companies.”

Ben Green, co-founder at web design company This is Fever, has been left £18,000 short after two break-ins in Chapel Street North, Colchester.

A total of 11 Apple Mac desktops were stolen over the two break-ins on February 20 and April 7.

White Space Creative Solutions in Commerce Way, Colchester, was hit on March 9.

And on May 12, Indigo Ross in Sudbury suffered the same fate.

Stationery UK’s attempted break in happened on May 6.

Mr Green filed a complaint with Essex Police having passed over two names of suspects in February as well as a car registration number.

Police said they are now looking for any connections between the incidents. They said: “We are reviewing the incidents to see if they are linked.”

Regarding the Feering incident, a police spokeswoman said: "From the information provided, unfortunately there were no forensic opportunities or witnesses, and, at the time of reporting, it had not been confirmed that the CCTV available was of a sufficient quality to led to the identification of suspects.

"However if any further information or evidence comes to light these will be investigated."
