A YOUNGSTER has raised hundreds of pounds after completing a sponsored seaside walk.

Rosie Newman, seven, from Lawford, spent three hours walking from Walton Pier to Clacton Pier for charity.

The Lawford Primary School pupil has raised nearly £300 from the walk which she undertook on May 5.

Sarah Newman, Rosie's mum, said: "We are so proud of Rosie.

"When we first started talking about doing some fundraising and the idea of walking pier to pier was suggested we thought it would be too far for her but she loved it.

"Her class topic this term is the seaside so we managed to do some homework along the way - counting beach huts and seeing which is the most popular colour."

Rosie raised money for Colchester Children's Charity which has helped manage her dyslexia diagnosis.

Sarah added: "Having the dyslexia diagnosis has been really helpful with school and we are already seeing improvements from the adjustments suggested by the assessor.

"Rosie did the walk as a thank you to the charity who helped fund her dyslexia assessment earlier in the year."
