A man has charged after a car was left on a train track.

Essex Police was called just after 6.15am this morning with reports a Ford Fiesta had been abandoned on train tracks at a level crossing in Mucking Wharf Road, Stanford-le-Hope.

No-one was in the car at the time.

A 19-year-old man from Corringham contacted police a short time later and was arrested in connection with the incident.

Ryan Prater, of Crofton Avenue, was charged with driving without insurance and driving without a valid MOT. He is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates' Court on May 30.
