A RECENT survey on more than 9,000 people revealed that 51 per cent of voters in Brentwood and Ongar want a final say on Brexit negotiations, according to a nationwide poll.

The poll was carried out by campaign group, Right to Vote.

With parliament deadlocked in the Brexit process, the UK is due to leave the EU with no deal on Friday next week.

Dr Phillip Lee MP, chair of Right to Vote, revealed the findings at today's Prime Minister’s Questions.

He said: “In polling that has just been published, over 58 per cent of the British public have expressed a wish to have a final say on the Brexit process.

“Does the Prime Minister acknowledge that with the ongoing impasse here at Westminster around Brexit, and despite her best endeavours to pass her deal - and indeed the ongoing endeavours of this House to find a compromise - that the British public are right to increasingly think they should have a final say before proceeding with Brexit?”

The campaign group was formed in January by several principled MPs in response to what it describes as the Government’s failure to navigate Brexit.

Co-founders include Dominic Grieve, Justine Greening, Sam Gyimah and three MPs who resigned from the Conservative Party two months ago - Heidi Allen, Anna Soubry and Dr Sarah Wollaston.

The poll also revealed that voters in the seats of every Westminster party leader want a final say.

Dominic Grieve MP, a co-founder of Right to Vote, said: “Asking for more time and opposition help to salvage a deal nobody wants is yet again merely delaying the moment of truth.

“We need a meaningful delay to agree a practical and credible proposal which can be put to the people for a final say. What started with the people should end with the people.”

In February, chair Dr Phillip Lee MP, was invited to meet with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street to discuss the campaign's calls for a pause in the process and a final say vote.
