A COLLECTION of Colchester memorabilia including a Titanic fundraiser poster is set to go under the hammer.

Reeman Dansie will be holding the auction from tomorrow and the collection of 1,800 lots includes a poster for a concert in aid of the loss of the Titanic at Culver Street Schoolroom Colchester on May 2, 1912.

The poster is expected to sell for between £100 and £200.

Michael Bowles, collectables consultant at Reeman Dansie, said: “We have a number of items of Colchester memorabilia in the sale. We also have a rather nice Titanic poster dated 1912. It was for an event for the relief fund at Culver Street Schoolroom.

“It is one of the highlights and it is nice to find something related to the Titanic and a link to Colchester. It is nice to see what Colchester did in response.”

Other items include a collection of Colchester United and Arsenal programmes from the 1950s and 60s. It is expected to sell for £500 to £700.

There are some other Colchester United annuals and a number of circus posters.

Also going under the hammer is a Jumbo Water Centenary mug for 1883 to 1983 which is expected to fetch £30 to £50. Other items include gold sporting fobs and an ebony walking stick.

Mr Bowles added: “We have got some remarkable live steam models and trains.

“We have some other Colchester related items such as Colchester football programmes from the 1950s.”

The sale takes place at Reeman Dansie, on Severalls Business Park, from 10am both tomorrow and Wednesday.
