“Ageing” play equipment needs to be replaced, a parish council has said.
Tollesbury Parish Council is raising funds for new equipment at its play park on Tollesbury Recreation Ground, off Elysian Gardens.
The council is bidding for a further £2,500 to help replace the “condemned” zip-wire, seesaw and floor surfacing in the park.
The whole project will cost the council a total of £14,000. A spokesman said: “Tollesbury Parish Council has over a number of years been repairing the ageing play equipment.
“We have reached the stage where the equipment now needs replacing and last year following a play equipment inspection, the zip-wire was condemned.
“Last year, with the support of Essex County Council’s community initiatives fund, the parish council and the support from the village, we were able to have a new play fire engine, slide and safety surfacing.”
The county council’s grant gave the parish council an extra £6,000 towards the project.
After the £2,500 requested from fundraisers is raised, another £6,000 is required.
