Members of the public will be able to have their say before plans for the council's flagship Northern Gateway development are submitted.

A planning application is expected to be submitted next month for the project on land south of Axial Way.

It will see the delivery of a hi-tech sports complex, homes and commercial space.

A series of pre-planning consultation events are taking place this month.

They will take place at:

  • St Johns & Highwoods Community Centre on 23 January 2019, 3pm - 5pm
  • Colchester Rugby Club, Mill Road on 23 January 2019, 5pm - 7pm
  • Myland Parish Halls, Mile End Road on 26 January 10am - 12pm

The display material will also be available to view at the below venues:

  • Camulos Academy Reception, 21 – 23 January 2019
  • Colchester Town Centre Library & Community Hub, 24 – 25 January 2019

Nick Barlow, Colchester Council’s Commercial Services boss, said: “These exciting proposals align strongly with many of the key aims of Colchester Council, creating opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy healthy, active lifestyles, and enabling businesses to flourish as part of this new community.

“The development will also aim to provide world-class digital connectivity, plus instant access to the regional transport network, showcasing high-quality contemporary urban design.

“It will combine quality green credentials with a highly desirable environment creating an aspirational place for living, playing, working and doing business.”
