GRATEFUL football teams think a butchers is a cut above the rest for funding their new training jackets and a trophy.

Ramsey Master Butchers has spent about £450 buying new football jackets for all 19 players of Harwich and Parkeston Under Tens and the Harwich and Parkeston Under Eights teams.

The teams’ manager Mike Evans knew the players were in need of new jackets in December and took it upon himself to ask if any local business could help cover the costs.

Joe Pederson, owner of the butchers, used to play for Harwich and Parkeston as a child and jumped at the chance to help the youngsters out when he was approached.

He said: “As I used to be a player I wanted to put something back to the into the current team by giving them new training jackets. I also got them a man of the match trophy.”
