SHOPPERS will be able to avail of free parking on three key shopping days in the lead up to Christmas.
Parking charges will be waived in all Colchester Council-owned town centre car parks from 3pm on the three Wednesdays in the lead up to Christmas; 5, 12 and 19 December.
Many town centre boutique and big-name stores will be open until 9pm on these nights.
Car park payment machines will be covered and marked out of use to make it easy for drivers to take advantage of the offer.
Mike Lilley, Colchester councillor responsible for planning, public safety and licensing, said: "We’re pleased to be able to offer free parking again this year to assist late night shopping.
"We hope it will encourage people to spend more time in the town, enjoying the festive activities and supporting local businesses, making a 'Better Colchester'.”
