A drug dealer has been jailed after cannabis, cocaine and large sums of cash were found.

Kemal Elicin from Chelmsford and his associate, Jack Message, were arrested on May 25 in Pulham Market, Norfolk.

They were in a van seen in a layby on the A140 Norwich Road, and inside was £5,250 cash and a bag of cocaine.

Elicin and Message were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

A warrant was carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address linked Elicin in Chelmsford, where herbal cannabis and a block of cannabis were found.

We also found 23 cannabis plants growing in the loft, where a fingerprint belonging to Elicin was found on a bottle of plant food.

His home address in Stanley Rise, Chelmsford, was also searched and we found about £13,000 in cash hidden in a drawer and shelving unit.

Message’s home in Sowdlefield Walk, Norwich, was also searched and officers found £10,600 in cash and 36 cannabis plants in the loft.

The cocaine seized from the pair had a potential street value of up £2,560 and the cannabis was valued at nearly £60,000.

Kemal Elicin, 32, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on July 18 and admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and being concerned in the production of cannabis.

He was sentenced on Wednesday, October 31, to three years for the cocaine offence, one year for the possession of cannabis, and one year and three months for the production of cannabis, to run concurrently. His total sentence was three years.

Message, 32, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis at a hearing in July and guilty to possession of cocaine at a hearing in September.

He was sentenced last Wednesday to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years. He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and 15 days of rehabilitation activity.

The drugs will be destroyed and an application has been made under the Proceeds of Crime Act to recover any money they earned through criminal activity.
