LOOKING AHEAD: Marc Harrison will be determined for a better outcome when Basildon United travel to Aveley for the second Friday in succession.

A speculative backheel from Tom Richardson decided last week’s FA Trophy tie in Aveley’s favour.

Basildon boss Harrison said after the encounter he would head to Parkside with ‘fire in his belly’ as the visitors look to stretch their league advantage over the Millers.

The Bees still hold a healthy seven point gap over second-placed Aveley in the Isthmian North, having made an unbeaten start to life at the fourth tier of non-league football.

Aveley have been inconsistent in the league in recent times, despite their high league placing (last six games - WLWDWL).

How will tonight play out?

MANAGER’S VIEW: “We can get something from this game,” said Harrison. “In the last seven days we have worked on what we need to do differently to win the game.

“It is important we keep our identity and play with more belief in our game. I watched it back and I think we are lacking belief. The boys need to realise how well they have done up to now. It is only a start, we know that, and we haven’t lost in 10 games. That’s a quarter of a season.

“I might take in an Olympian game this weekend.

“We have come from that level so it will be interesting to see if the players have the calibre to play higher.”

TEAM NEWS: Reece Placid returns to the squad and Toby Aromolaran joins from Tilbury.
