A NEW play area - chosen by families - has now become a reality.

Councillor Bob Massey, cabinet member for parks and cemetery services and Chelmsford’s Mayor, councillor Yvonne Spence were in attendance at the popular play area at Savernake Park, Westlands, to welcome children and their families to the new and adventure play area.

The play area features springers, interactive panels, multiplay units for toddlers and children, a cradle swing, zipline and a hexagonal climbing frame, it's sure to keep kids happy and busy until hometime. The design also retains the much-loved seesaw that was already in place, while plenty of seating and picnic benches mean the whole family can relax together.

Councillor Bob Massey, cabinet member for parks and cemetery services said: “We are thrilled that we can continue to improve play areas for young children and their families in the city to enjoy.

"It was great to see so many children and families come and join us for the opening of this new and exciting play area as this demonstrates how important play areas are still to our younger residents and their families.

"We are proud of our parks and open spaces in Chelmsford and this project is another example of how getting residents involved benefits the community for the better.”
