Essex Police has condemned a hoax caller for wasting the emergency service's with an April Fools prank.
In the early hours of April 1 - which marks both April Fools Day and Easter Sunday this year - Essex Police received an emergency call.
It turned out this call was a hoax, meaning the police and fire service went out for no good reason.
Following this incident, both Essex Police and Essex Fire and Rescue released warnings.
Sadly, as it hit #AprilFoolsDay we got a hoax call which has wasted our time as well as @ECFRS time. This isn't a joke for emergency services, its a waste of our time and public's time who actually need help and not wanting a laugh 😡

Basic point is: emergencies are for emergencies, not for jokes.
