PUPILS from a local high school joined volunteers at Broomfield Hospital to find out about the valuable work they do to improve patients’ lives.
Year 8 and Year 9 students at Chelmer Valley High School, in Court Road, Broomfield, visited the new wild meadow at the hospital’s Well Being Centre, which was created by gardening volunteers working alongside a team from the Grow Wild Project.
Pupils from the school completed more than 50 pieces of art for a display in the meadow and eight children whose work was selected attended a celebration event at the hospital, led by Professor Sheila Salmon, chairman of Mid Essex Hospital NHS Trust.
Praising the work of the volunteers, Professor Salmon said: “When you forget about yourself, others remember what you do.”
