A star of the Harry Potter movies is set to visit Chelmsford Library next month.

As part of the national Harry Potter Book Night, Essex County Council has arranged for Dobby actress Diane Gibbins to visit Chelmsford Library on Thursday, 4 February for a Q&A session.

Diane, who is a Chelmsford resident, played the much-loved house elf in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, which broke the record for the highest single day gross in the UK, raking in £6.6 million.

She starred in the film alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

In addition to starring in Harry Potter Diane has acted in pantomime in London, Wales, Bristol and Essex.

She will be visiting the library for a special event at 5pm on Thursday, 4 February, offering kids and parents alike a chance to relive the Harry Potter series and ask any burning questions about how the film was made.

David Finch, Leader of Essex County Council, said: “Harry Potter has been a global phenomenon which has helped introduce a lot of young children, and adults too, to the wonders of reading.

“The film series continued the books’ success and this night offers fans a chance to meet one of the stars of the film. Diane is a local resident who has worked alongside the likes of Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson so can give a great insight to life behind the scenes of the Harry Potter series.

“It will be a great honour to welcome Diane who has a distinguished background in the world of acting having worked on the big screen and on stage.”
