Freshly reelected MP Simon Burns has thanked the residents of Chelmsford for supporting him.
He said: "I would like to thank those people in Chelmsford who very kindly voted for me in the General Election and gave me such a large majority to continue working to the best of my ability on behalf of the people of Chelmsford.
"It is a great honour to be the Member of Parliament for Chelmsford and I am indebted to all those people who placed their confidence in me by voting for me.
"I would also like to point out to those who did not vote for me that I am the Member of Parliament for all of Chelmsford so even if people did not vote for me, I will still work to the best of my ability to assist them with their problems if they ask for my help.
"I would like to thank all my supporters from the bottom of my heart for returning me to Parliament so I can continue my work for Chelmsford."
