A PROJECT for 244 homes on the site of a former university building in Chelmsford will get a cut of a £45.5million pot from the Government.
Housing Minister Kris Hopkins confirmed the plans in Duke Street at the former home of Anglia Ruskin University will get a share of the money given to developers Genesis Housing Association.
The funding is being provided through the Department for Communities and Local Government's build to rent scheme which is looking to increase the amount of properties available for private rent.
Construction has already started on the site in Chelmsford with homes set to be ready for residents next year.
