MAKESHIFT props are set to take centre-stage on Saturday when a comedian comes to Chelmsford.

Simon Munnery will be heading the Comedy Showcase bill at the Cramphorn Theatre in Fairfield Road with his alternative routine.

The 46-year-old is well-known on the circuit for his use of props made out of everyday objects and household items.

These include metal buckets and kettles worn as hats.

His career as a stand-up comedian has seen Munnery appear in a number of TV and radio productions such as Attention Scum! on BBC Two and The Comic Side of 7 Days on BBC Three.

Also on the bill will be Somalian-born performer Prince Abdi who has shared the stage with top comedians including Dave Chappelle and Stephen K. Amos.

Other comedians on the night will be Mark Cooper-Jones, Darren Walsh and Ria Lina.

Tickets cost £12.50 with the show starting at 7.45pm.
