A long serving councillor in Chelmsford has been removed from her post after not attending any meetings for six months.
Maureen Moulds was forced to stand down from her role as a Conservative councillor for South Woodham, Elmwood and Woodville ward after her non-attendance at council meetings.
Rules state councillors must attend at least one meeting every six months.
Earlier this year Mrs Moulds suffered health problems leading to her absence.
A by-election will take place on December 5.
