A SECONDARY school in Chelmsford has been given £325,000 to pay for an artifical sports pitch.
Moulsham High School, in Brian Close, was handed the cash grant by sports charity the Football Foundation to help build a third generation (3G) artificial grass pitch with floodlights and changing facilities.
The development will be used by pupils, local clubs and the community once constructed with the application for the funding being backed by the Essex FA and sports teams from Chelmsford.
Headteacher Mark Farmer said the money will provide one of the best sporting venues in the city.
Mr Farmer said: “This pitch will not only be a fantastic facility for Moulsham pupils to use, but will benefit the local community and the city of Chelmsford as a whole.
“We will have a high quality facility which will support the development of local talent and local clubs.”
