THE perfect primer for Christmas 2020 will dazzle and delight Llandudno this autumn.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to Venue Cymru for a dazzling production of the most famous ballet in the world – The Nutcracker.

Traditionally, Russian State Ballet and Opera House returns to the town as part of their annual UK tour with a vibrant and enchanting full touring ballet production.

However, this year they are bringing to you the Mariisky State Ballet Theatre from central Russia.

Featuring a live Orchestra with more than 30 musicians, the troupe promise an appropriately lavish take on Pyotr I Tchaikovsky's eternal seasonal favourite.

Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic and love are just some of the elements that will be brought together by this renowned Russian company.

The story follows a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve to wage battle against the evil Mouse King.

Loosely based on the ETA Hoffmann's dark fantasy,Tchaikovsky's final ballet is highly accessible and full of familiar music such as the Waltz of the Flowers and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Despite the failure of its initial performance, The Nutcracker has become the most frequently performed of all ballets and has served as an introduction to classical music for many young people.

To catch the quintessential Christmas ballet in all of its glory, head to Venue Cymru on Tuesday, November 24 at 7.30pm.

Tickets start at £32, to book visit venuecymru.co.uk or call the box office on 01492 872000.
