Twitter was in mourning for Iwan Thomas as he became the first celebrity voted off Strictly Come Dancing in 2015.
Former Olympian Iwan and his professional partner Ola Jordan landed bottom of the judges’ leaderboard after their first two dances and the public vote didn’t see them fare any better.
Iwan ended up in a dance-off against Loose Women panellist and pop star Jamelia and her partner Tristan MacManus, as the two celebrities scored the lowest number of combined votes.
The athlete-turned-sports commentator, 41, and Ola performed the Cha Cha to Sexy And I Know It by LMFAO, which Bruno Tonioli branded “murder” and earned just 13 points.
Despite Iwan evidently not being the best dancer in the competition, viewers took to Twitter to lament his exit and that of fan favourite Ola.
This is the first time Ola has left the competition in week one. She feared she might not make it to the latest series at all after suffering a serious knee injury when she took part in winter sports show The Jump.
Ola’s husband James led the Twitter tributes to Strictly’s first fallen pair.
As did presenter Chris Hollins who won Strictly in 2009 with Ola.
And fans were up in arms about their exit.
Jamelia and Tristan were also gracious in their victory.
Who do you think will be next week’s casualty?
