Melissa Rivers has claimed that her mother Joan’s death was “100 per cent preventable”.
The Fashion Police star died last year at the age of 81 after complications during a routine hospital procedure.
But her daughter Melissa, who starred in reality TV show Joan And Melissa: Joan Knows Best? with her, filed a lawsuit earlier this year alleging that the medical staff were cracking jokes and taking selfies with her unconscious mother while her health deteriorated.
She has now said in a new interview on the Today show in the US: “In my opinion, it was 100 per cent preventable.
“Yes, it was a tragic accident. If something happens, and everyone does everything properly, things happen… You live with it. When it’s error after error, after error, after error, after behaviours that you cannot even begin to get your head around – you get mad.”
Anaesthesiologist Dr Renuka Bankulla has filed a response to say that she tried everything possible to resuscitate the comedienne.
