•	Octopus Ahoy! in celebration of Mayflower 400 Summer Sculpture Trail 2020
For 10 weeks in the summer of 2020, Harwich and the wider Essex area will see its parks and open spaces taken over by giant painted octopus sculptures! Over one hundred octopus sculptures will engage local professional artists and school children, who will design and paint them, celebrating the creativity of Essex. The event will culminate in an auction of the sculptures to raise funds for Essex-based charities. The Octopus Ahoy! project celebrates the birthplace of the Mayflower ship, on which Captain Christopher Jones sailed across to Massachusetts, USA, four hundred years ago and is in partnership with Tendring District Council, KAT Marketing and Milsom Hotels. Download the app, available from Wednesday 1st July 2020, and follow the trail to unlock exciting prizes along the way – a free event for all the family.
