When the draw was made for the Rucanor Cup, the county’s top volleyball knock-out competition, Chelmsford found themselves in the half that contained the top side in the county, Brentwood Wildthings. Having both reached the semi-final these sides finally met on a hot night at Mildmay Sportshall, Anglia Ruskin University for a vintage match that saw Chelmsford take a rare set from the current holders who have yet to drop one this year in any competition.

Premier Division Writtle wound up their treble trophy winning season with a 4-0 win over Beacon Hill Rovers who escaped relegation by goal difference. Two goals by French enabled Dunmow to conclude their season drawing 2-2 with Old Parmiterians.

First division Writtle A (Paul Cuming, Gary Ward and Kevin Worthington) proved to be the masters of the close finish as they won the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League Handicap Knock-Out Cup. They trailed Hatfield Peverel 2-1 in the semi-final but three quick-fire wins gave them a 4-2 lead.
