Mini-Rugby Festival in Chelmsford is a big hit
CHELMSFORD Rugby Club celebrated its 34th Mini-Rugby Festival at Coronation Park.
The event is the one of the biggest in the country and also the longest-running continuous festival. Age groups from under-7s through to under-12s took part.
Clubs from around the county and outside of the county came to participate in the festival. In all there were ten clubs - Chelmsford, Barking, Brentwood, Burnham-on-Crouch, High Wycombe, Luton, Maldon, Thames, Upminster and Westcliff.
Chelmsford had some mixed success, in the under-7s. Chelmsford A drew with Brentwood
10-10 in the final, so the cup was shared.
The under-8s category saw Chelmsford defeat Thames in the final of the plate competition,
30-10, and in the under-9s, Chelmsford lost to Maldon B in the plate final.
Finally, in the under-12s, Chelmsford beat Brentwood 5-0 in the final.
A huge vote of thanks goes to all of the club's sponsors for the Minis, most notably E H Smith Builders Merchants, Birkett Long Solicitors and Hot Spring Spas Ltd, and all the helpers from the club, including those who refereed to make the day a success.
