ICE HOCKEY: Czech forward Jakub Klima will be the Chelmsford Chieftains’ second non-British trained player for the 2011-12 season, rounding off coach Gary Clarke’s forward lines.

Klima, 21, has been plying his trade in the Czech second tier for the past few seasons, averaging just over a point a game in recent seasons.

At 6ft tall, the former Czech Republic junior international and Czech 1 Liga player has the pedigree to fit in at the Chieftains.

Clarke said: “It’s never an easy job choosing an import and I believe Jakub ticks all the boxes.

“I have tried to build a forward line-up that can skate with speed putting the opposition defence under pressure.

“I feel overall I have this in abundance and, from the footage I have seen of Jakub, he clearly fits the bill.

“If Jakub is to be the next star this will be an added bonus, but my main objective was to try to find a player who will be suited to our style and a player who can help balance the offensive line-up.”

Klima, pictured right, can play both centre and on the wing and his versatility should be very useful.
