Premier Division Moore scored the lone goal for Ford Basildon as they succumbed to Champions Writtle by 4-1, a scoreline that keeps Writtle on track for a season with only one defeat.
Bringing their season to an end with a 2-2 draw at Dunmow were Herongate Athletic whose goals came from Barnett and Pascall, Dunmows goals came from Fletcher and Badham a win in their last match will see them take over third place from their opponents.
Division One Sporting Club Woodham who were still vying for promotion lacked the killer touch at home to relegated Ludlows and had to settle for a 2-2 draw, Jollisse and Gould for the home side, Absen and Watson scored for the visitors. With PLA winning 6-3 at home to Rochford Town they are the ones who end the season as runners-up, Parnell scored a hat-trick, Bennett, Martin and Rogers made up the triumphant total, while Lagden, Lepage and Warner hit the net for Rochford Town. At the other end of the table a penalty save by Smith for Witham CML may be crucial come the end of the season as that gave his side the=2 0Springboard to go on and record a 3-2 away win at fellow strugglers Old Chelmsfordians. Adcock hit two of the important goals, Boyd added the third and now it is a question of wait and see for both sides. In rare mood of avare` Herongate Athletic and Frenford Senior defences did not give anything away and the game ended 0-0.
Division Two East With a narrow but decisive 3-2 win at home to Wickford Town, White Notley made sure of runners-up spot and deserved promotion thanks to goals by Kochin and Milward(2). West hit both of the Wickford Town goals who, with one game to go, sit in a perilous position needing a win and a prayer to avoid the automatic drop.
Division Two West Newbury Park who at one time looked to have been slipping off the pace now have it in their hands to finish runners-up after ending William Fitts’ chances with a 3-1 win, Jolly, Lamb and Weller hitting the goals. Champions Sungate continued their winning ways as a Girling hat-trick and one by Johnson gave them a 4-2 result against West Essex. Glassmasters season ended with them near the bottom following a defeat to fellow strugglers Chipping Ongar by 4-2, Lovell and Ince hit two goals each for Chipping Ongar who can still climb out of the depths with a win in their last match.
Division Three East Shenfield Reserves underlined their Champion status with a 2-0 win against FOBS.
Division Three South Last week I reported that a win for either opponents Hockley and Hawkwell or Leigh Town would give the winners the title but a draw would do neither any good. Perhaps I put a curse on them as the game ended 1-1 leaving Cricketers Horndon Champions by one point and mighty relieved they were at that result. Leigh Town had taken a 1-0 lead which was levelled by Matt Lansley and despite the best efforts of both sides neither could break the deadlock. At Runwell Hospital they don’t know the meaning of giving up. Since 2007 they have not chalked up a victory until they went to Hannakins Farm where thanks to a hat-trick by Mcken, further goals by Sells and Dickens gave them a long awaited win by 5-3, Nugent hit the home side goals.
Division Three West Another team with only one win in the season are West Essex Reserves who visited Sanders and came away with a 7-0 defeat.
