THAMES Rugby Club crushed Brentwood 2s to win the John Adler Cup in stunning fashion.

Boasting an immensely strong squad, Thames won 44-0 and started as they meant to go on.

In the early stages Thames were awarded a scrum and from the set piece they broke out wide and Max Clarke finished off the move after four minutes of play.

Brentwood were proving to be a stubborn barrier at times but, from another set piece, Sean Loughran used the weight and power of his pack, with number eight Mark O’Connell bundling an Old Brentwoods defender over the line. Rhys Dell added the extras.

Liam Smith added a third score as the half approached its midway point but there was to be another try before the break.

Clarke had a lot to do with three quarters of the pitch to run into, but his speed and agility kept him clear of any Old Brentwoods players and he touched down to give Thames a 22-0 lead.

After the break, an excellent move was finished by Kyle Munro, who drove through two tackles to drop over the try line.

The second try again came from the back line - Daniel Proctor working the ball to Clarke, who had come in off the opposite wing to run in under the posts. Lee Cairns added the extra two points.

Edgar Juska got the final try of the game.
