CHELMSFORD endured a hugely frustrating week in the Shepherd Neame Essex League as rain halted some good early progress.

The first team had reached 233-5 against Hornchurch - Ben Clifford hitting an excellent unbeaten 101 from 111 balls.

But the rain started to fall meaning each team took six points.

The 2s scored 239 against Wanstead & Snaresbrook - Sean Sullivan (68) and Liam Keaney (55) impressing, only for the rain to arrive four overs into the reply.

The 3s were chasing down just 114 against Hutton, after Anisur Rahman took 4-10 with the ball.

But, with Chelmsford at 25-0, the match was again abandoned.

The 5s did beat Billericay 4s by 84 runs, Neil Parrish hitting 91 and Abraham Kurian taking 5-24.
